MAPFRE to sponsor the Spanish national soccer team
- The company will also be the official insurer of the team.
MAPFRE and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have signed a new strategic sponsorship agreement that complements the existing one for the Copa del Rey (King’s Cup). MAPFRE is now one of the main sponsors of the Spanish Soccer Selection and the Official Insurance Company of the national male, female and under-21 teams.
From September, the MAPFRE brand will adorn the kits, training grounds, and official facilities of the Spanish team, reinforcing its visibility and commitment to national soccer. The company has negotiated insurance and finance sector exclusivity, as well as image and advertising rights, marketing, and public relations.
“For MAPFRE, this agreement is about more than reinforcing our commitment to Spanish sports and to the RFEF. It means that our company and our brand are now directly linked to the game of soccer and all that goes with that – enthusiasm, a sense of identity, and values that are shared by millions of people around the world,” stated Elena Sanz, CEO of MAPFRE Iberia.
For his part, the president of the RFEF highlighted the importance and dimension of this global agreement, which reflects the strength of the Spanish teams and confidence in an institution like the Federation, which represents Spanish soccer worldwide.
The sponsorship means MAPFRE will accompany the Spanish Football Selection in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Participating in this event is a unique opportunity to strengthen MAPFRE’s international presence and connect with soccer fans globally.
This new agreement is valid until 2030, coinciding with Spain being one of the host countries of the World Cup that year, along with Portugal and Morocco. The tournament, which will mark the centenary of the World Cup, will have unprecedented historical and media importance.
“MAPFRE’s presence as a sponsor of the national team represents a unique opportunity for global visibility. We’ll be right beside La Roja in all their matches,” said Elena Sanz.
This alliance comes at a moment of momentum for national soccer, with the Women’s Selection enjoying their rein as current world champions, the male selection as European champions, and the under-21 team brimming with potential in present and upcoming players.
The insurance company has been a sponsoring partner of the MAPFRE Copa del Rey (King’s Cup) since last year. This tournament, one of the most inclusive and closely followed in Spain, thrives on effort and constant improvement, values that the MAPFRE brand shares. Since 2024, MAPFRE has also been a sponsor of the CONMEBOL Libertadores, the main club-level competition in Latin America.
MAPFRE has now consolidated its role as one of the main sponsors of Spanish soccer and Latin American soccer. Apart from accompanying the national team as it takes on the great sporting challenges of this decade, it shares with it the pride of representing Spain on the international stage.
MAPFRE is a global insurance company. It is the largest Spanish-owned insurer in the world, the number one multinational insurance group in Latin America and the sixth largest carrier in Europe by Non-Life premium volume. MAPFRE employs 30,000 professionals and in 2024, the company’s revenue grew by 2.9% to over €33.1 billion euros, with net earnings of 902 million euros (+30.3%).
